Volunteer Opportunities

Make a Difference

Volunteers are essential to all of the Foundation's activities. Whether you need to complete community service hours, want to do an internship, wish to give back to the hospital or serve the community, Passavant Hospital Foundation offers many opportunities that can fit your talents and skills and the Foundation's needs.

Undergrad or graduate students in communication fields and/or nonprofit management can complete internships at the Foundation. Interns learn while assisting with Foundation events, writing for Foundation publications, developing Foundation materials, updating Foundation website content and assisting with social media. Interns who successfully complete 110 hours or more of service qualify to receive a stipend. Click here for the internship description and instructions for applying.

Program Assistants

Passavant Hospital Foundation offers many educational outreach programs on health and wellness topics which are open to the community and free of charge. Volunteers help at these events with such tasks as room and electronic equipment setup and photography, as well as serving as greeters and moderators.

Special Events

Passavant Hospital Foundation hosts fundraisers and other special events such as a golf tournament, 8K race, holiday concert and more. Volunteers help with planning, details at the event, garnering sponsors and bringing out an audience.

Office Support

Volunteers can make a difference in the office with mailings, data entry, website maintenance and other administrative tasks. We thank our current office volunteers:

Men and women are invited to join a long-standing dedicated group of volunteers who make up the Passavant Hospital Auxiliary. The Auxiliary conducts many fundraising events that benefit the patients, families and staff of UPMC Passavant. Jewelry sales, cookie sales, and the Lights of Love tree are just a few of the Auxiliary's projects.

The Foundation's volunteer applicants are screened and oriented by UPMC Volunteer Services, and receive all of the benefits of a UPMC volunteer, including meal vouchers, special events and in the case of students eligibility for scholarships. To join our volunteer team, complete a volunteer application. Select UPMC Passavant as your preferred site and list "Foundation" under Type of Volunteer Work Preferred. You will be contacted shortly with next steps.
