Passavant Hospital Foundation
Extending the Care ETC

Extending the Care ETC was established in January 2005 as an educational and resource program for seniors and their caregivers.

In light of its success, ETC was expanded to be an educational and resource program for people of all ages.  Topics presented include senior interest topics, such as levels of care, legal matters, VA benefits and caring for the caregivers, plus educational health–related topics which focus on illnesses as we age.

ETC seminars are offered at UPMC Passavant and off-campus locations.  Multiple two-hour sessions are offered in the mornings and evenings in March-April-May and September-October-November.

In 2008, we partnered with UPMC Passavant Education (department) to offer certificates of attendance to Passavant nursing professionals, school nursing professionals, and nursing professionals in the communities who attend our seminars.  This added benefit helps nursing professionals to earn their State required continuing education credits.

Average attendance at each ETC seminar is over 100 and average age range of attendees is 45 to 85+.  These seminars are open to the community and free of charge.
